Consumer and industrial product firms have a lot of the same challenges that need insights in order to drive profits.
To be able to steer the business we need insights into our products - margins, stock levels (actual and planned /forecasts), sales and revenues, recall rates, discounting, channel mix and so on.
We need insights into our customers - best customers, those at risk of churning, which types of customers to focus your marketing effort on, which need a bit more effort from your sales team, which leads are most likely to convert, which are most and least profitable, who's getting the good prices or over discounts? are we aware of the global reach of our customers with us?
We need insights into our manufacturing and supply chain - do we have enough capacity to meet our plans for each of our SKUs, do we have the right supplies and materials coming in? are we getting the right deals with our suppliers, particularly if We have global relationships?
We need insights into our sales and marketing spend - is our mix right for us? are our partners actually creating value? are our distributors / sales teams / retailers / channels (delete as necessary) performing where we want them to be? do we need to change our mix or price lists and so on.
The great thing about trying to answer these questions is that many of the answers are in your systems already. Your data built up over multiple years are give a record of what's been happening.
The difficult bit is always that they're in different systems, and until now, you've had to spend hundreds of thousands of euro/pounds/francs/krona and so on to even get the technology up and running (and that's just for the team).
